Sea Surface Temperature Fronts

Sharp temperature discontinuities in the ocean temperature are demarcated by fronts or frontal zones. These frontal zones are often associated with rich productive zones, which provide feeding resources for marine mammals. Detecting frontal zones from satellite imagery can provide daily insight on this oceanographic phenomenon and the movement or sighting patterns for many marine mammals
These pages were created by Rob Schick, a former researcher at the New England Aquarium and the originator the MarineGIS.org website. In this website he details the process of how to integrate frontal data from a DODS server into GIS.
